Your employees work hard on a daily business to move your company closer to its goals. Recognizing their efforts is not only a good way to say thank you, but can also keep your team motivated to consistently do their best work. We’ve shared our favourite awesome ways to reward your employees in the blog post below.
Say Thank You
Take a minute to personally thank your employees for their hard work. If there’s a specific action that you’d like to recognize them for, let them know. Tell them how they’ve positively impacted the organization for the better. Not only will they be happy to hear it from you, it’ll also reinforce how their work directly affects the company.
Publicly Recognize Their Work
Let your whole team know just how much you value the actions of a specific employee by giving them a shout out in a corporate newsletter, on your social media channels, or in a team meeting. The public recognition for a job well done won’t just make the employee feel good, it may even inspire a few others to go above and beyond, too.
Go For Lunch
Take an employee (or your whole team) to lunch to celebrate a certain milestone, the completion of a large project, or landing a big client. Getting out of the office to celebrate accomplishments is a great way to reward your employees, and foster a positive team environment. Leave the work chat at the office and instead focus on your employees’ personal interests and hobbies.
Give Unplanned Time Off
Thank an employee for their hard work by giving them the morning, afternoon, or a full day off in addition to their regularly scheduled vacation. That little bit of extra time off is the perfect way to reward an employee for their hard work – and give them the opportunity to recharge their creativity.
Let Them Work from Home
Thanks to the Internet and all that goes with it (email, FaceTime, desktop sharing, etc.), there’s a good chance that your employees are totally capable of completing daily tasks from home. Reward hard work with a little extra autonomy, and give your employees the opportunity to work from the comforts of home at certain times.
Bring in Breakfast Treats
Show your employees some love by starting their day off right! Reward their hard work with breakfast goodies from a favorite local bakery, and some fresh fruit from a farmer’s market. You’ll be supporting your team and other local businesses at the same time!
Develop a Peer-to-Peer Recognition Program
Give your employees the chance to recognize their peers on a community board, or internal website. That way there’s plenty of opportunity for positive feedback, and you’re creating a foundation for positive reinforcement. Each month the employees who were recognized could be entered into a draw for a gift card or other reward.
Create a Wall of Fame
Have a bulletin board in the office that works as a “Hall of Fame” for your company. Recognize different departments on a rotating basis, allowing them to show off their contributions to the company, their greatest achievements and the employees that make up the team.
Host a Pamper Session
Have a masseuse come to the office for a day and give massages to your employees at work. Offer the opportunity to wear comfortable clothes, have some flavored water on hand, and play soothing music just like a spa. You may be surprised at how easily you’re able to transform your office. Your employees will thank you!
Leave surprise hand-written Post-It notes on the desks of your employees to say thank you for a job well done. If someone had a great suggestion during a brainstorming session, nailed a presentation at work, or created an awesome subject line for a company email, let them know! This is a quick, personal way to show your employees just how much you value their contributions.
